Tufted Rugs from Merida

The sophisticated designs in our tufted rug collections blend colors, textures and a mixture of cut and loop piles to create beautiful and distinctive soft surfaces. The beauty of these tufted rugs, sometimes referred to as shag area rugs, doesn’t stop there however; the use of 100% wool in these rugs makes them a safe and environmentally friendly addition to your room and home.

Tufted rugs utilize our extensive library of plush New Zealand Wool yarns. Wool yarns in these tufted and shag area rugs help to insulate a room as well as regulate moisture levels and dampen sound. Concerned with indoor air quality? Wool yarn does not contain any VOCs and is dust and pollutant absorbing. With regular vacuuming wool is also hypoallergenic.

This collection of tufted rugs and shag area rugs is designed and manufactured in our Fall River, Massachusetts rug manufacturing facility where we house both hand looms and our Robo-Tufter. The Robo-Tufter is a giant robotic arm, which creates the tufted or shag yarn effect by rapidly injecting tufts of yarn into the scrim, or shag area rug backing which is stretched vertically in front of the machine. This process is fun to watch and allows us to easily create custom sizes and colors for any of our tufted and shag area rugs.
